STEAMSHIP TARJANNE 100 YEAR’S

Year 2008 was a significant year on lake Näsijärvi – Steamship Tarjanne celebrated her 100th birthday in May 2008.

The name, Poet’s Way, is inspired by a journey made by Finnish national poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg and Finnish writer Zacharias Topelius a hundred years ago. It is time for celebration!

Poet’s Way cruises sail across the lake Näsijärvi through Murole Canal to Ruovesi and on to Virrat. There are many sights along the way including Kalela, Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s wilderness home and studio in Ruovesi.

Steamship Tarjanne has a fully licensed restaurant onboard. We have prepared a variety of different package tours that will help in planning itinerary. Convenient bus services are offered at many of the stops, making it easy to combine a bus trip to a cruise.

Bridge at Visuvesi is back in operation and s/s Tarjanne has returned to its normal route cruising between Tampere and Virrat. Welcome aboard!

TAKE A TRIP TO KALELA
(wilderness home and studio of artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela) with steamship Tarjanne.

On Wed 7/7, 14/7 and 21/7 the trip starts from Tampere, Mustalahti harbour, with steamship Tarjanne at 10.15. Lunch will be enjoyed onboard before the arrival at Kalela at 14.30. In Kalela you can admire the art of Akseli, Jorma and Aivi Gallen-Kallela. After the museum tour the bus takes you back to Tampere city centre.

On Sat 17/7 and 31/7 the trip will be started by bus at 11.35 from Tampere city centre. In Kalela museum you will enjoy the interesting tour and the boat leaves from Kalela at 14.15. Lunch will be enjoyed at the boat restaurant, arrival at Mustalahti harbour at 18.30.

Price: 55 €/adult, 27,50 €/child (4-11 years) including the boat trip, lunch onboard and the bus trip. Kalela entrance fee: 10 €/adult, 5 €/child (7-15 years).

The stopping at Kalela quay requires reservation of minimum 20 persons.
