Steam engine of s/s Pohjola in Mustalahti Harbour (17.6.2010)

On Wednesday June 17th 2010, restored steam engine of s/s Pohjola was transferred to Mustalahti harbor. Steam engine is showcased in a glass cabinet along description about s/s Pohjola written by Juhani Valanto.

Steam engine was renovated during 2009 and 2010 by Reino Puumalainen and Sami Salo. Many different participants were involved in making this showcase possible and Poet’s way would like to thank them all!

Cruise for the memory of s/s Kuru on Saturday September 5th, 2009

In September 7th 1929 s/s Kuru Shipwrecked in Siilinkari. To commemorate the events that happened 80-years ago s/s Tarjanne will have a cruise on Lake Näsijärvi and held a memorial at Siilinkari. The cruise leaves from Mustalahti harbour at 12pm and will reach Siilinkari at 12.30pm. Eulogy and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at Siilinkari before a short cruise on Lake Näsijärvi. Arrival back to Mustalahti is at 2pm.

Price: Adults 10 €, children (4-11-years old) 5 €

The sailing season of 2009 opened on steamship s/s Tarjanne

The yearly press conference was held on Wednesday the 13th May at 10-12am at Mustalahti quay, Tampere. The conference was held in cooperation with the shipping company crew and GoTampere. The event attracted a wide audience including representatives of shipping companies, press, and the police.

At the conference, plans for the summer of 2009 were announced. The celebrity chef Maija Silvennoinen also made a special appearance at the conference in relation to her contribution as chef and restaurant consultant for the Finnish Silverline and Poet's Way during the sailing season of 2009.

First sail of the season

Steamship Tarjanne had its annual check on May 7th and was announced to be in good condition for the sailing season at hand. The steamship enjoyed beautiful weather during its first sail of the season on the 8th of May on lake Näsijärvi. Scenes from the cruise available at the Iltasanomat website.

Finnish Silverline was represented at Tourest travel fair in Tallinn 13.-15.2.2009.

S/s Tarjanne’s 100th anniversary was a success!

Steamship Tarjanne’s 100th anniversary was a success. Over 7200 passengers travelled along the Poet’s Way. Tarjanne operated as expected and the renovations done received a lot of positive feedback. New timetable was made for the anniversary and Tarjanne took part in numerous events held along the route.

Summer 2009 will be operated with the same timetable as the anniversary. Tarjanne’s staff thanks all the passengers for the season 2008 and wishes You all to come celebrate the next hundred years.
